International Truck Project

'45 International K-3, 1 ton farm truck
Day one - as its owner got it. A gift from a good friend, straight out of the field. Running, with a lot of soul as well as a swiss cheese rusted roof, holes at the bottom of the fenders and through the usual spots around the cab. The angle iron reinforced grille had definitely seen better days, but it was still a great truck that just needed some help.

Things started simply enough; "Lets just straighten the fenders, patch their rust holes and incorporate the new replacement grille I found." Then came the "Wow, These look great!....Um... what would it take to do the cab...and, well if we're going to blast it, we might as well do the frame too....."
Off to the blasters. The frame and cab both had about 3 different coats and colors  of peeling paint (and rust)

Top side of the hood, before and after media blasting. All will be revealed!
The cab and frame essentially naked and ready to come back to the shop for grinding, patching and sanding.

"Hmm...little more daylight than I expected coming through the roof of the cab!"

Let the Patching Begin

Cab back in position, almost ready for the first round of primer. A possible hint at the trucks future stance as well?
Ahhh, the first round of primer. Everything in one color and the shapes really begin to emerge. Also reveals any spots where more work needs to be done and a guide coat will get dusted on next followed by more sanding.

Remember that pushed down, Swiss-cheese roof? Also the fuel filler spout has been deleted just above the running board. The new fuel tank will fill directly from the side, without any plumbing going through the cab.
